The Creative Alliance in Baltimore
How an old movie theater was turned into a place for the arts
There was once an old movie theater located in the Highlandtown area of Baltimore known as the Patterson Theater that showed all kinds of movies starting in the 1930s. By the 1970s the multiplex movie theaters began to dominate and the Patterson tried to stay relevant by first converting to a two-theater multiplex then becoming a discount theater that showed second-run movies for a reduced admission. By 1995 the Patterson had closed for good only for the building to become resurrected as a place for the arts that’s run by the non-profit Creative Arts Alliance. It’s a pretty fascinating story when you come to think of it.
The video has a runtime of nearly four minutes and it was first uploaded online on June 17, 2023. Here are the two formats of my same video. Pick the one that suits you the best.
